The Iron Gate Blogs for Charity
Hello everyone!
Charity. It’s a grand idea if you can get one thing to happen: people to donate! I’d like to announce that I am joining a world-wide event to blog my heart out for Charity on July 29-30, 2006 with Blogathon.org. This will be my second year participating.
What is blogging you may ask? A blog is short for web-log, an online journal. A lot of people keep these. I’ve had mine for over a year and a half. A blogathon is just like a marathon only the running you will do is with your fingers and away from sleep
That’s 24 hours of blogging, every 30 mins a new post and no time for sleep!
I have chosen a charity that benefits all Alternative Lifestyles. It’s near and dear to me to help out with awareness and understanding of anything that’s not a traditional marriage. The charity I will be blogging for is The Institute for 21st Century Relationships (http://www.lovethatworks.org). It is the Foundation for the National Coalition for Sexual Freedom. I blogged for NCSF last year. This foundation emphasizes in research, education and awareness. It’s all about knowledge. From lesbian and gay unions, polyamory, swinging/open relationships, BDSM and D/s; these relationships have a common voice: it is the ITCR.
Here’s their mission statement:
“Attaining a satisfactory level of love and companionship through intimate relations is an unalterable, fundamental need of all human beings. The Institute for 21st Century Relationships exists to facilitate the fulfillment of the human potential for relating, and to support the freedom of consenting adults to discover and to practice the intimate relationship structure that best meets their emotional and human needs. We champion the basic human right to do so free of governmental, societal or institutional coercion or favoritism. “
“We seek, through education, research, and support, to create a climate in which all forms of ethical, consensual and fulfilling relationship styles are broadly understood and are equally respected and honored as legitimate choices.” – ITCR website
Why am I writing to the list? I’m looking for sponsors. I’m looking for the kindness and generosity of heart that I know exists in this community. Please consider taking a look at the Foundation, and if you feel that supporting this charity is something you want to do, I encourage you to pledge to the Blogathon under my name. I won’t let you down. All donations are tax-deductible in the USA. Help me raise money and support for relationships of all types. You can pledge as little or as much as you like. I do not personally collect the money; you send it straight to the charity once my blogathon is officially complete.
